InnovDe GmbH starts the first Electric Vehicle Charging Station project in Partnership with Iraqi Company INFORMATIC Company
For the first time in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, Informatic Company has partnered with InnovDe GmbH, a German-based company, to establish an electric vehicle charging station in KRI cities.
Located in central Sulaimani and Erbil and Duhok, the new charging facility provides multiple fast-charging points for electric cars. This marks Iraq’s first electric mobility infrastructure project, which aims to benefit citizens and protect the local environment.
Informatic Company officials said the partnership with InnovDe GmbH will help strengthen their efforts to promote sustainable transportation in Sulaimani. Evde’s expertise in setting up electric vehicle charging networks across Europe brings valuable technical knowledge and experience to the project.
The goal of establishing this charging station is two-fold. Firstly, it aims to benefit the citizens of KRI by enabling the use of electric vehicles and reducing reliance on fossil fuels over time. For drivers, this can lower fuel costs substantially compared to gasoline cars.
Secondly, widespread adoption of electric mobility can significantly improve KRI air quality and cut carbon emissions originating from the transport sector. This helps shield public health and the environment from the impacts of vehicle pollution.
The first-of-its-kind collaboration marks an important step for Iraq as it seeks to develop sustainable and low-carbon solutions for transportation. Partnerships like this will help accelerate the energy transition and adoption of electric vehicles across the Kurdistan Region.
